Jen Awad
“Bad People”

This L.A. artist has a retro soul sound and vintage style to match, but she has a modern sense of sass that shines through in her music. “Bad People” explores the relational woes of society’s less than desirable element, but hey, “Bad People need loving too.” Jen Awad throws plenty of soulful swagger into this song to entice fans of Vintage Soul and NeoSoul alike. And the video is pretty badass too.

Neak
“Elevation Everything”

Neak has some soulful musical roots. His father is Robert Kelly of R&B/Gospel/Soul group The Kelly Brothers and you can hear that influence enter into play on “Elevation Everything”. The soundscape on this single has a smooth Soul sound, but the contemporary beat sets the pace for Neak’s rhyme style. This Chicago-based artist is definitely on the up so make sure to give him a spin.

Swim Deep
“To Feel Good”

The British band known as Swim Deep dropped this powerful number that mixes elements of indie rock, gospel, and hiphop. Swim deep creates surging emotional soundscapes in the layering of styles on “To Feel Good” so it’s no surprise this single got picked up by BBC 1. This song comes to us from the band’s forthcoming album which is due out in October. BUT you should get your pre-order in sooner rather than later.

Freekbass
“Your Love is Always on Time”

Freekbass collaborated with Jambase for his new single, “Your Love Is Always On Time”, which just came out on the label Color Red.  And then Freekbass asked his friend and fellow creative, Jennie Chacon, to help create this stunning visual accompaniment, filmed on location at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Break the Robot
“These Boots are Made for Walkin'”

This PHX-based band has been making some waves since they started making their way around the Valley scene. They even signed with local label, 80/20 Records, and gather quite the collection of cameos on their new music video. “Boots” covers the Lee Hazelwood number written for Nancy Sinatra, but Break The Robot ups the rocknroll energy.
