German photographer Pete Granser created a remarkable collection in Sun City aptly titled “Sun City”. The project captures the kitsch and character of our sassy seniors as well as the strange sense of place only found in the Southwest. Check out the collection here.

Jugg-Fest!

Billy Keys, who YabYum covered back 2010 with his group Roots Express, is in a new band as well – Kava Kreation. They have signed to a new label founded by Reagan Maui’a, who played with the Phoenix Cardinals, called Juggernaut Music Ent. Inc. and on Saturday March 10th, will as part of the JUGG-FEST at the Marquee Theatre. “SPAWNBREEZIE, NATURAL ROOTS, Love’s Messenger RAY LEGER, COMMON KINGS, LOCAL CULTURE, Arizona’s own KAVA-KREATION and last but not the least, internationally known and locally respected, the 1 and onlyJ-BOOG,” will be providing the entertainment. You provide yourself to this all ages show.

The Melrose On 7th Avenue Street Fair and Classic Car Show

If you’ve never been, you really ought to check out the M7 Street Fair on 7th Ave. in the Melrose curve. And if you have been, this year’s festival should be bigger than ever! “Over 140 booths, food, rides and crafts for the kids, live music, over 200 classic cars, and almost 18,000 visitors” are what you can expect if you plan on attending. YabYum favorites, Super Stereo and the Sara McAllister Band are starting the fair’s live music off to a dancing start so show up with a good pair of shoes!
